Big bikes in Dumaguete City

The attraction of this weekend was for sure the bike-run to Bayawan and back following the invitation of a local bike club. Even there were a few less bikers than expected it was a nice little event.

Polished chrome and leather was the dominant view at the boulevard on Saturday afternoon.

Here some snapshots..... and even I hear many times that the kids nowerdays are only into friendster, Yahoo, Jollybee and Wowowee...

... I can see a tiny light at the end of the tunnel, which gives some hope...[s=Rhoody;32908]...what does the new phone help... I lost all my important gwapa-contacts. So I need to go out more often to collect them again...[/quote]

hmmm. ONLY phone shopping?? or also more shopping? how about the owner of those contact # u lost on ur phone?...
i think its easyer to got there #"s back if you have something for them too.hem
but pls dont give to them the important THING you have coz its just ONLY for ME... he he he

Big bikes for little people

BMW are now offering a large proportion of their bigger models with lowered saddles and shocks for those of a shorter stature. TWO sent a tiny person to investigate

It struck me like an epiphany the first time I realised that motorcycling was an achievable and open world for me. I was sat on a superbike in Battersea Park, London, with both feet flat (almost) on the ground. With my 5ft 3 (and three-quarters, those three-quarters are very important) frame I'd always struggled in the past, but here was a bike that not only could I fit on but was fast, light and manouverable into parking bays. It was perfect, it was a silver and black Yamaha R1 and I didn't even have my licence. Anyone who's a little bit on the shorter side like me but loves their bikes knows exactly how this feels. There have been so many concerns associated with getting my feet down over the years including gravel, damp leaves, off camber roads, pot holes, steep descents, stopping at car park barriers and getting tickets out that some of these have had a major affect on my confidence. And as such it has probably taken me far longer to learn to ride well than taller riders will have done.

Flame is priced at Rs. 45,000 ex-showroom Chennai and comes with disc brakes as an option.

Addressing a press conference , Venu Srinivasan, Chairman and Managing Director, TVS Motor, said, "This is the highest technology product in the country. A three-valve bike has been rolled out earlier, but this is the first time that a mass market roll-out is happening." According to the Indian Driving Cycle (IDC), the bike could deliver a mileage of 82 km a litre. "No vehicle (in this segment) anywhere nears this on mileage," Mr. Srinivasan said.

TVS Motor, he said, had set a sales target of 20,000 Flame vehicles a month once the bike was launched across the country by January. Flame, along with a new Star Sport (an entry-level mass market bike), expected to hit the roads in January, would stem the sagging sales of the company, he said. Once these two bikes were launched across the nation, TVS Motor would be hoping to hawk 75,000 bikes a month.

Mr. Srinivasan refused to comment on the company's ongoing tussle with Bajaj Auto. Mr. Srinivasan said that "Flame is based on a technology patented by AVL in Austria and the rest of the world." Bajaj Auto, it may be recalled, had alleged that TVS Motor had used its technology for Flame. To a question, Mr. Srinivasan said it was only a commercial dispute between TVS Motor and Bajaj. "I will not allow this to come into the personal relationship with Rahul Bajaj."

Mr. Srinivasan said TVS Motor had forecast monthly sales of 1.30 lakh two wheelers (75,000 of which will be motorcycles) in the last quarter of this fiscal. Three-wheeler sales would commence from January. This, he said, would add 40,000 units a year from 2008-09.

On the Indonesian venture, he said mass marketing of the vehicles would begin from January. "Indonesia is an unforgiving market," he said. The dealer network in Indonesia, he said, would be beefed up by June next. The Indonesian venture would also export its vehicles to the ASEAN markets, he added.

A showpiece of engineering and mechanics.
Cycle part: Multi tubular chassis of steel pipes, fabricated cowl in fiber of carbon, hlins suspension , Brembo brakes.
Other details: Optical group formed by leds, semi triangular rear-view mirrors with turn indicators and digital instrumentation inspired in MotoG.
The Ducati Desmosedici RR doesn’t look like the Casey Stoner motorcycle or to the Capirossi, its the motorcycle of these two excellent pilots but adapted to pass the pertinent homologations to be able to circulate by the street ( although where they can squeeze the juice this hot piece of motorcycle is in a circuit of course ). This motorcycle already matriculated can cost about 66,000 euros.

HAVI BIKE

The MTT Turbine superbike is starring in the Warner Brothers movie "TORQUE", and Men's Journal lists the bike as one the most "awe-inspiring, innovative, and otherwise amazing designs" in their feature article "Perfect Stuff". With production limited to five per year, it's no wonder the superbike has become a revolution.

bulag ata itong mga journalists na ito eh, napaka pangit nga ng itsura ng Y2K, I remember reading an article citing that it "looked like a dead fish" kasi nga napaka ganda ng design ng fairings at lalo na yung headlight assembly.

they are only marketing it as the world's fastest production bike, pero all in all, mas astig pa rin yung mga common jap sport bikes.

A balaclava (pronounced /ˌbæləˈklɑːvə/), also known as a balaclava helmet or ski mask, is a form of headgear covering the whole head, exposing only the face or upper part of it, and sometimes only the eyes.

The name "balaclava" comes from the town of Balaklava in Crimea. During the Crimean War, knitted balaclavas were sent over to the British troops to help protect them from the bitter cold weather. They are traditionally knitted from wool, and can be rolled up into a hat to cover just the crown of the head. Modern balaclavas can be made from a number of materials, such as silk, cotton, polypropylene, neoprene, wool or fleece. Modern balaclavas are also used in outdoor winter sports activities such as skiing, snowboarding, or winter bicycling to help protect the face from the cold wind and maintain warmth. Some exercise specialists believe that balaclavas help athletes with exercise-induced asthma by recirculating exhaled moisture (in concurrence with the theory that it is the dryness of air, not temperature, that triggers some types of asthma).

Motorcyclists also wear one under their crash helmets for similar reasons; balaclavas also help to keep the inner lining of the helmet clean. Additionally, balaclavas are often associated with special forces units such as SWAT and the SAS, or alternatively with robbers and terrorists, where they act as a form of identity concealment.

Honda Electric Vectrix Superbike

Honda Vectrix Superbike
The car industry is proclaiming it’s electric future loudly, but quietly leading the way is the bike industry. KTM is bringing an electric bike to the market by 2010, and Quantya already has an electric dirt bike, the Strada available in the market.
The latest addition to the electric bike stable is Honda with the new Vectrix Superbike concept revealed in Milan. Honda is partnering with Yuasa to add an electric bike to the 2010 line-up.
The planned electric bike will be battery-powered and emit no CO2. Yuasa and Honda will partner to develop the new lithium-ion batteries. They plan on building a manufacturing facility near Kyoto in Japan with an estimated cost of $18.5 million.
If this concept bike is anything to go on the future of electric bikes will be very exciting

Vivaldi British Superbike ride

It was ridiculous. Exactly where in the script did it say “Janie rides British Superbike- cue lashings of torrential rain” It didn’t. It shouldn’t have. But it did, in stupendious proportions.

As if I wasn’t nervous enough. Basically, take my Gixxer Thou’, throw about seventy grand at it, which’ll buy you upgraded suspension, brakes, more power, better cooling, aerodynamics, etc, . . and ta-da, you’ve got one muvver of a bike. A 205bhp Superbike. Gulp!

So when Vivalidi (as in the spuds) offered me a test ride of their BSB bike, I thought it’s rude to say no. I mean, if I won the lottery, and wanted to buy my bike a make-over, this superbike is pretty much the ultimate goal. It’s a road bikes final destination, its nirvana.

“Honestly Janie, you’ll be fine.” Scott Smart grinned. Yeah Scotty, you’re Barry Sheen’s nephew, Paul Smart’s son, I’m Janie. Big difference mate.

Only he was totally right. The team had softened rider Ollie Bridewell’s fuel mapping to accommodate my riding style and ability and the abysmal weather. But tweaks or not, this bike’s power delivery beggared belief. How could something so potentially brutal still be so smooth and manageable?

Before I launch into nonsensical streams of dry mouthed, sweaty palmed gibberish, the bottom line is that in the hands of riders like Scotty, these bikes are total animals. But with me, as long as I kept it between 5 and 10,000 rpm (maximum power is at 13,000) I was literally singing in the rain. Well - shouting really. Very, very loudly.

It was a once in a lifetime ride. Wet or not, I needed to know what the power really felt like. I grabbed a fistful. Bloomin’ Heck! My bum shot back in the seat as the Gixxer lept forwards. I glanced down. No-where near 13,000 revs. S***! The next turn launched itself at me. Huh- already? Change down, or was it up? Oh heck just tip it . . .

The race gearbox is upside down to a regular road bikes, but it didn’t really take too much getting used to. OK, so I went completely the wrong way and sneaked second instead of fourth (on more than one occasion) but hey . .I had a lot on my mind. Lucky me!

Ducati 1200 Superbike in demand for racing :

Ducati have created a buzz in the minds of the japanese big four by getting permission to race a 1200cc V twin ! and they ve already started testing it and it already looks likely to be the best bike to run next season , and the demands from various teams have started rising ! and Ducati have released a statement that they won t be able to build enough superbikes and it will be limited.

Ducati’s WSB boss Davide Tardozzi has revealed that they won’t be able to build enough of their 1200cc Superbikes to meet demand. Tardozzi claims that there is massive interest from teams to run the new bike but the factory will only be able to produce ten to 14 motorcycles for 2008.

The official factory team will get four motorcycles with Airwaves Ducati set to take delivery of another four regardless of whether they race in BSB or WSB. Ruben Xaus’ Sterilgarda squad will be in line for two motorcycles leaving other teams hanging on to see how many motorcycles Ducati can build and their availability.

If you have not been to visit our warehouse, this Ducati Xerox 999R, #58 with 1387 miles, is another reason you should drop by soon. Another rare slice of modern motorcycle history is now being offered for sale at Automania. The 2006 999R XEROX Ducati Superbike is the customer homologation replica of Troy Bayliss’ FO6 World Superbike Championship Motorcycle that he used to dominate and win the 2006 WSB championship.
It has fundamentally the same specifications as the standard 999R but with the special XEROX badging and a few other mechanical differences

I’m really not knowledgable about the values of these bikes. But they are obviously collector examples that will command some premium in the market. Which one would you pick as best value?

Kevins Turbo Charged CB1000
Kev Writes....... Hi
Came across your site. thought I'd send you a pic of my CB1000 big one. Ive fitted a garrett turbocharger to it!
Other mode include full 'homemade' digital clocks, handmade fairing, subframe and tailpiece (49" high). i made the exhaust and headers from stainless. I've since fitted wavey discs. Its taken me to Portugal and back with no probs. I've had many bikes (including a motomartin CBX 1000) but I must say, this is the best so far. Its very quick off the mark and most of my mates cant reach the ground when sat on it.
Anyway, Good site.

Rarely is there room for interpretation of this most basic of concepts, especially when it comes to the motorcycle industry. Heavy bike import doubled in Pakistan

The import of heavy bikes has been doubled in Pakistan despite the 200 percent custom duty and CC fine on imorted vehicles. The prices of the imported heavy bikes increase threefold in Pakistan, but the youth bikers don't bother about that, said a survey conducted among heavy bike dealers and riders in Lahore city.

The survey said that heavy bikes dealers were importing bikes from 250cc to 2000cc being made in Japan, Germany, Italy, America, China. Some of the most favourites bikes among Pakistani bikeriders are Harley Davidson, BMW and Ducati, which are being sold from Rs 500,000 to 2.2 million.

A heavy bike dealer in Lahore, Ahsan Butt said that during the last five years, a record number of heavy bikes had been imported in Pakistan that showed how the young generation was crazy about motorbikes.

Another dealer Waqar Ahmed said that the youth belonging to elite class of the society could easily buy an imported bike costing 2.5 million, but the government should reduce the amount of custom duty and fine for other buyers. If the government allows import of heavy bikes on less duty, this trade can be developed into an industry, he said.

On the other hand, despite all the measures, the government has failed to provide youth with an attracting racing track to curb the menace of one-wheeling and motorcycle racing on city roads. The sport has now become a profession for youths, who are playing at the hands of gamblers in Lahore.

The Yamaha Venture

For this ride, I'd leave the Hayabusa at home, and ride my rickety old Venture instead.

Ya see, it’s not everyday when you get to relive the past, but that’s exactly what happened when I came across an old Yamaha Venture for a mere $1000 awhile back. I couldn’t pass it up and bought it on the spot as is. I had owned this motorcycle a decade earlier churning up 50,000 miles in three years traipsing all over the continent. Best described as “rickety”, this one comes rather weathered with 60K on the clock, a bad 2nd gear, and one or two zip ties holding the fairings together.

It has several mismatched parts from other bikes, and the previous owner even created his own hot rod touring machine with a V-Boost system & a V-Max rear end bolted on. But now it’s all stock, dead set reliable thus far and I haven’t put a dime into it. Used mostly for commuting (my Hayabusa holds down the sport-touring duties), I think I’m going to just ride it until it’s just zip ties holding the entire bike together.

Like my counterparts, I’d only paid $1000 for this bike. It’s not perfect you can image. These bikes often had a plethora of options, CB’s, radios, computer leveling, but this one is just the raw model. In terms of luxury, it has a radio.

But the old Venture is great for commuting to work soaking up the miles with an eagerness of a 16 year old on their first date. The 1200cc motor was known for making the bike a bit of a hot rod, and she pulls well when the hammer falls.

On the other end of the unorthodox spectrum, check out the one-off Roland Sands Ducati Hypermotard, which blends elements of custom chopper, dirt tracker, and caféstart the thing up and rev it; the unrestricted L-twin sounds pretty sweet, on the hearing, not so good on the eardrums, checkout the bend pipes,it`s nothing more... We also sell the all-electric Evader scooter, a handsome and fun to ride full-sized motor bike designed by former Boeing engineers. It's a very affordable (and very quiet) way to get from here to there without using gas.

Finally we are proud to introduce authentic imported Dutch Bicycle Company commuter and cargo bikes.

We encourage you to explore the website, and if you're in the neighborhood, stop by to kick some tires and see why we believe small is the new big.

Dear Friends,

I am 31yrs old living in Mangalore , Karnataka also An avid biker . I do have a bike of my own which is a 1978 make Royal Enfield Bullet. Making custom bikes has always been my dream; the same became my hobby and passion after viewing the series of OCC which gave me a lot of ideas and inputs. Belowis first look of my bike for you all friends. It is my own bike which i have modified 4 times earlier , this has been my latest beauty.I do extend my services to serious bike lovers.

I would like to confirm that the engine has not been modified and that I have worked only on the looks as well as the suspension (technically). This modification is completely handmade as there are no sophisticated instruments to do the same.

Friend is request if you could sincearly put some comments for the same.

Is the Baja Phoenix 250 a good first bike?

I have been looking around at new bikes that I can work into and eventually "sell up" to a bigger bike. I currently have a classic 1975 Honda CB360T that runs decent. I have been looking at the Baja Phoenix 250 (see details of bike here), but know that it is a Chinese bike. I don't think they have been around long enough for a serious review. The Honda I have needs engine work (and a bunch of other replacement parts) because of its age. I am curious about these Baja bikes because they are new and are under $1500 for a sweet looking cruiser (BRAND NEW). I don't really have the time to work on my Honda, so wanting something newer and a little more reliable. Has anyone heard about these Baja bikes? Apparently you can buy them at Pep Boys and Joe's (formerly G.I.Joe's in Wash./Ore).

Re: 1994 CBR400RR for sale Black
Ninja,

Appearantly you don't have a ****ing clue on what the hell you are talking about. Do you even know your ass from a hole in the ground? This is a very hard to find bike, that is practically in mint condition. You must be some young ****ing kid, that thinks just because you ride a bike, you are the shit. If you don't want to take a look at the bike or even think about buying this bike, stay off this cats thread, and go play with some matches and gasoline........

Dude, that is a sweet ass bike you got there, I should have picked one up while I was in Japan, but now the majority of my riding is on the track and that's where a good part of my money is going. Good luck on selling that sexy lil biatch!!!!

2005 Ducati Superbike 749 Dark dyno

• 2005 Ducati Superbike 749 Dark

The Ducati 749 Testastretta and 999 Testastretta are the most advanced, highest performance, twin-cylinder motorcycles ever produced at our Bologna, Italy factory. They epitomize the racing history of Ducati and represent the evolution of a formula that has dominated Superbike racing for over a decade. This year’s Superbike family includes seven models: the 749 Dark, 749, 749S, 749R, 999, 999S and 999R.

Two years after the launch of the latest Superbike models, Ducati decided the time had come to incorporate in our production models the features of our race machines that make them unbeatable on tracks around the world.

In motion even when others are at rest. Quicker and sexier than ever, these are real race machines that epitomize the best of Ducati’s high performance tradition.

Features & Benefits

A perfect entry model to the Ducati Superbike family, the 749 Dark stands out with its totally black colouring giving it a compact and aggressive look. Ducati’s race-inspired, tubular trellis frame is matched with a front Showa fork and fully-adjustable rear shock absorber that result in confidence-inspiring and precise road holding.

With its short-stroke design and further innovations that extend to the very heart of the motor, the 749 is never short on power, producing 108 hp at 10,000 rpm and 8.2 kgm at 8,500 rpm.

By applying the knowledge gained on the racetrack, Ducati engineers have created our highest performance middleweight Superbike ever, with fully adjustable suspension, box-section aluminum alloy swingarm, and steering damper. The 749 is as at home on the road as it is on the track and is designed to offer an exciting, safe ride whatever the road conditions. A sleek riding position blends man and machine perfectly.

At 108 hp, the Testastretta provides lightning acceleration out of corners and incredibly smooth power delivery without putting stress on the chassis set-up. Excellent torque (8.2 kgm at 8500 rpm), even at very low rpms, guarantees superb performance while making the motorcycle easy to handle in heavy traffic.

Additional Features

New for 2004 Two years after the "red-volution", all the models in Ducati's Superbike family, in both engine sizes, have been dramatically improved. Updates have involved not just restyling but a series of major improvements to chassis and engine aimed at bringing the 749 and 999 closer still to Ducati's ultimate sports motorcycle concept, making them meaner, faster and more competitive than ever. But even though Ducati's SBK range now looks almost identical to the bikes that dominate the world's championships, they are still just as comfortable as ever. Because comfort is not just something you need on long road rides. Comfort is also essential if you want to maintain high speeds for any length of time on the track. And stylistic improvements are only part of the story. Performance has got substantially better too. from which Supersport and Superbike machines are derived, Supersport motorcycles, represent a segment of the market that has exploded in recent years. All 999's and 749's (the basic models, the S and the R), have been substantially improved and to bring the specifications of these latest models closer to the bikes ridden by the official Ducati racing team.

Accessories

Customise your new Superbike with Ducati accessories. Working closely with R&D and the Corse race team, Ducati builds motorcycle accessories that let owners create their own Dream Bikes. With a passion for design innovation and new materials, Ducati itself has become the industry reference point for the finest, custom Ducati accessories available.
